Clusters Meet Regions: Two Inspiring Days of Learning, Networking, and Collaboration in Eindhoven

The Agri-Food Cluster had the chance to join the Clusters Meet Regions event on March 26–27, 2025, in vibrant Eindhoven, the Netherlands—and what an energizing experience it was! Organized by the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), this was already the 19th edition of the event, and yet the atmosphere felt anything but routine. With participants from all across Europe, two full days were packed with inspiring sessions, fresh perspectives, and meaningful conversations around the future of clusters.

Collaboration, Talent, and Clear Vision: Key Themes from Eindhoven

From the very beginning, the tone was clear—clusters are not just networks, they’re powerful platforms for innovation and cooperation. A recurring message throughout the event was that collaboration isn’t optional anymore—it’s essential.

We dove into big-picture themes like Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3), cross-border value chains, and the role of clusters as connectors in Europe’s innovation landscape. But at the same time, there was a strong human element. Whether it was pitching, networking, or casual hallway chats, there was a sense of shared purpose: let’s build something meaningful—together.

A Few Key Highlights:

Clusters as bridges – helping industries, academia, public authorities and civil society work toward common goals.

Talent first – funding isn’t just about euros; it’s about empowering people and growing expertise.

Strategic focus – knowing your region’s strengths and aligning your goals leads to real impact.

Regional roots, global mindset – the best innovations are often local at heart, but globally connected.

What We’re Taking Home

We return with new insights, new contacts, and a deeper appreciation for the power of collaboration. The event reminded us that thriving clusters are built on four things: talent, focus, innovation, and trust. Eindhoven and the Brabant region left a lasting impression—openness, long-term thinking, and community spirit were present in every moment. We could all learn a thing or two from the “Brabant way.”
